As CEO, Co-CIO, and Managing Director of Equities of The Herbst Group, LLC, Brian utilizes decades of experience and proven strategies to strive for excellence for each client. He holds a BA in Political Science from George Washington University and worked for many years at Bloomberg before moving with Mayor Bloomberg to city hall where he served as the Deputy Chief of Staff. For 15 years, Brian had been a Managing Director of The Herbst Group at Wellington Shields Capital Management before forming The Herbst Group, LLC as an independent wealth management firm.

John Starks led an outstanding thirteen-year career with the United States National Basketball Association’s (NBA) New York Knicks. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1992-1993, selected as an NBA All-Star in 1994, and was awarded the League’s Sixth Man of the Year in 1997. Since retiring from the NBA, John has become an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He sits as Chairman of John Starks Enterprises and founded the John Starks Foundation where he continues as President today. The Foundation provides monetary grants to New York tri-state and Tulsa area college-bound high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to community service.

Herbert Williams played in the United States National Basketball Association (NBA) for eighteen seasons from 1981 to 1999. Following his prolific career ending in 2003, Williams then served as the interim head coach and assistant coach of the NBA’s New York Knicks. His latest position began in 2015, when he moved to assistant coach for the United States Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team, New York Liberty.

Elisabetta Berghold is the Executive Director of The William M. & Miriam F. Meehan Foundation, a position she has enjoyed for over ten years. After Elisabetta moved to New York from her native Italy, she worked for Stern Brothers, a small specialist and brokerage firm, before becoming a real estate broker with Houlihan-Lawrence.

Coleen Higgins-Jacob served for over 25 years as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, in New York City. Her responsibilities included directing the Foundation’s financial and accounting activities, as well as evaluation and monitoring of both external investment managers and the custodians of the Foundation’s Employee Pension and 401.k Thrift Plan. Coleen was staff member to the Finance Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and a member of the Board’s Pension Committee.

As Chief Administrative Officer and Head of Marketing, Hannah keeps The Herbst Group focused, motivated, and organized so the entire team is poised to serve clients in an exceptional way. Hardworking and diligent, she provides best-in-class client-focused service in all she does.
Hannah brings years of experience and education to her role with The Herbst Group including a BA in Business Administration with a marketing concentration from Merrimack College; including key positions at Morgan Stanley, Barnum Financial Group, and Rani Wise Consulting where she has honed her marketing and client service skills.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, golfing, and practicing yoga.

Don works closely with clients to communicate and execute strategies tailored to their specific needs in his role as Managing Director of Fixed Income. Don heads the fixed income effort and provides support on equity investing and the implementation of various options strategies. He is passionate about using the full group’s acumen and experience for each client, and is not above mixing in a bit of humor at the office.
With over 40 years of experience on Wall Street, Don has worked in sales, research, trading, and investment management with JP Morgan Chase, TIAA, EF Hutton, Wertheim Schroder, CRT Capital and Five Iron Capital. His educational background includes a BA in Economics from Connecticut College and an MBA in Investments from The Wharton School.
Don enjoys cycling, golf, and spending time with his wife (“the best woman, ever”) and his kids, when they can spare the time.
